How do I know the GPs are fully qualified?
All our GPs have to be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK and are issued by them with a license to practice. We are happy to supply any of our GPs' GMC Registration Number so you can check their details on the GMC website – as you can with any practicing doctor.
What conditions can I expect to be treated for?
Go-Healthcare has been developed to help with a multitude of common, every-day minor conditions, infections and pain. Uncomplicated infections such as throat infections, ear infections, eye and skin infections, some chest infections, cystitis and many other common infections can be treated. The Go-Pax™ medication Box contains a number of pain killers of varying strengths to help combat pain from most conditions including back pain, pain from injuries and toothache. There are also medications and creams in your Go-Pax™ Box to treat skin infections, fungal infections (e.g. athletes foot), sickness and diarrhoea symptoms, as well as allergies and hay fever. Some of these are over the counter medicines also known as non-prescription medication; others are prescription-only medicines that can only be used ONLY in conjunction with a consultation with a GP.
Can I use Go-Healthcare for a "second opinion"?
Go-Healthcare is designed to help members deal with sudden, unexpected minor illnesses and acute infections. Providing second opinions is a lengthy process and we do not offer this service at present.
Can I get advice on existing medical conditions that I have?
Go-Healthcare is designed to help members deal with sudden and unexpected minor illnesses, infections or pain. We are generally unable to give treatment advice on your pre-existing conditions. Your own GP is by far the best person to manage these conditions and help you understand them.
What happens if I need any tests or medical investigations?
If during the consultation we feel you need to be seen by another medical professional or require any tests or investigations, we will explain clearly to you what we think, and why we think this. We will explain to you how to arrange this and what potential outcomes you may expect.
Can you supply me with my existing repeat prescriptions?
We are unable to supply any repeat medication that is prescribed by your GP or any other doctor. Your regular doctor will review your repeat medication regularly and is the only person who can and should supply these for you.
Can I have additional items added to my Go-Pax™ Box that only I need – e.g. zovirax cream, hay-fever eye drops, etc?
The answer is yes, you can. Many people suffer from cold sores for example. For this, the sooner you start applying the antiviral cream, the better the outcome will be. It is therefore a good idea to have a supply of this cream handy for when you need it. We can supply such non-prescription items at very competitive prices and add them to your Go-Pax™ Box. You can either discuss this with our GP during the registration consultation or ask us about adding medication at any time by contacting us through any of the means on our contact page.
Should I let my GP know that I am a member of Go-Healthcare and have a Go-Pax™ Box?
Yes. It is important for the continuity of your care that your GP is aware of any other medical input you may have from any other medical professional. Go-Healthcare is a unique concept and the first of its type in helping patients manage minor conditions in this way and your GP should be made aware.
Will you tell my GP about any consultations or treatment I have had from Go-Healthcare?
It is always in the patient's best interests that their GP knows of any treatment or input they have had from any other healthcare professional. In this way, your GP is always up to date with any conditions you may have had and any treatments you have received. if you do not want us to let your GP know about any care we give you please let us know in writing.
What happens if my Go-Pax™ Box is lost or stolen?
Just as with any official claims, we will require a police or airline report. Please contact us in the first instance through any of the methods listed on our contact page. We will send you another Go-Pax™ Box and will have to charge our reasonable costs for this, but you should be able to claim it back on your insurance or from the airline. Your replacement Go-Pax™ Box will be sent to your registered address.
What if I need more non-prescription medication?
The over the counter medication in your Go-Pax™ Box can be used without having to consult a GP. As it runs out you will need more. This is important. For the Go-Pax™ Box to work best for you, all over the counter medication should be kept stocked up by you. You will be able to buy the same medication from a pharmacy but you can also order it from your My Go-Healthcare page by completing the order form when logged in. The cost of each medication is itemised and our prices are very competitive.
How can I tell the difference between over the counter medicines and prescription only medicines in my Go-Pax™ Box?
The medication in your Go-Pax™ Box is clearly labelled so you can easily identify them. Over the counter medicines in your Go-Pax™ Box such as paracetamol or ibuprofen, can be used without a consultation. The prescription only medicines cannot, and using them without a consultation will be in breach of the Terms and Conditions of membership and may seriously put your membership and your health at risk.
What about expiry dates of the medication in the Go-Pax™ Box?
We keep details of all expiry dates and batch numbers for all the prescription only medicines in each Go-Pax™ Box on an individual basis. When any of these are about to expire, we will you send a replacement free of charge. For the other medication as with any medicines you keep, you should always make sure that it is within its use-by-date.
What if my situation changes such as my medical conditions, new medications or new allergies?
When you register with Go-Healthcare, we securely record your medical details, such as existing medical conditions, current medications and allergies. We use this information to make sure the care we give you is accurate and of the highest quality. Each time you contact a Go-Healthcare GP, we will ask if any changes have taken place. In this way, each time you use Go-Healthcare for advice or treatment we know we have the most current and up to date information about you.
What happens if I miss my monthly membership payment?
Like any membership scheme, services and benefits are supplied to members through a contract agreed and accepted at the time of joining. This includes members’ monthly subscriptions. Missing monthly subscriptions may put your membership at risk. If you have concerns about this please contact us by any of the means on our contact page.
Am I allowed to take my Go-Pax™ Box abroad on holiday with me?
Yes. You can print a letter from your My Go-Healthcare page on the Go-Healthcare website which explains to customs and other officials that the medication has been prescribed for you by a UK GP and is for your personal use. Some countries restrict the types of medication they allow so it is better to check before you travel to see if any restrictions apply where you are travelling to.
Isn't it dangerous to have so much medication in one place?
The medication in your Go-Pax™ Box needs to be looked after properly and safely. Despite the number of medications in the box and the different types, there are few things in the box which could do serious harm. Nonetheless, safety is paramount and like all medicines, the Go-Pax™ Box should be stored beyond the reach of children much as you would manage the safety of any such items in your home. For added peace of mind, the Go-Pax™ Box has been designed to allow the use of a small padlock across the zip openers if you wish.
What if I want to leave Go-Healthcare?
You can cancel your membership at any time. We ask that you give us one month’s written notice, either by e-mailing us through our contact page with a subject heading of Cancellation or by post to: Go-Healthcare, 8 St Peter’s Court, Bradwell on Sea, Essex CM0 7JE.
Once your cancellation is effective, the telephone advice service will cease. As per the terms and conditions of membership, and for best practice relating to the safe disposal of the prescription-only medicines, you will need to either provide evidence to Go-Healthcare that you have disposed of these in any of the acceptable and recommended ways outlined in your Member's Handbook (or on the My Go-Healthcare page), or you must return these to us at the above address. As stated in the terms and conditions, until either of these is done, we will not be able to cancel your membership. It is in your best interest to ensure that this is done as soon as possible.
What is the Go-Healthcare refunds policy?
If you need to cancel your membership to Go-Healthcare, you will need to return the prescription medicines in your Go-Pax™ Box. If you believe that a payment to Go-Healthcare has been made in error, please contact us through any of the means on our contact page. Any over payment will be refunded within 21 days of us being aware of it.
